Another autumn highlight takes place on Sunday, 20 October 2019 at the Sixenhof Museum of Local History in Achenkirch. Traditional Tirolean handicraft comes alive at the historical single farmhouse, and visitors can experience demonstrations of turnery, weaving on an ancient loom and making felt shoes (“Toggln”). The best feature: All children are welcome to join and experience a piece of tradition up close. The young visitors gain insight how simple and cleverly devised methods are used to process different materials and fabrics. Both locals and visitors are made aware of tried and tested working techniques and the local Tirolean culture and tradition is conveyed.
Dance and music entertainment round off the event, and there will be a range of culinary delights available in the old open-fire kitchen, such as “Gruassi Nudl‘n” (fried dough pastry). The Achentaler Kirchtag (parish fair) occurs in all weathers. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
