The stillness of Christmas at Lake Achensee

Christmas is probably the homeliest time of year – and one can’t help being captured by the festive atmosphere. Trees decorated with lights and glitter, the scent of mulled wine and traditional Kiachl (fried dough pastry) will transport you to a world away from the distractions of everyday life and get you in the Christmas spirit.

The AchenSee Christmas embraces the Advent and Christmas season with its atmospheric atmosphere – featuring numerous events and markets, embedded in a wonderful winter landscape, which contributes to the Christmas spirit. The sparkle of the lights in the snow crystals seems to be almost warming. Simply beautiful – simply Christmas.

An absolute highlight during the Mountain Advent will be the live carving of the Achensee crib. Visitors can watch how the sculptor Klaus Astner carves the life-size figures during the opening hours of the Mountain Advent.

Klaus Astner, a sculptor from nearby Münster, was already a great drawing talent at school. After his training as a sculptor and carver in Elbigenalp, he made a dream come true and emigrated to Bolivia. Since his return to Tirol, Klaus Astner has proven his skills with many works of art in the Tirolean lowlands. During the Mountain Advent, visitors can admire the ancient wood craft.
