The holiday region of Achensee is located in the federal state of Tirol. Tirol is one of the nine federal states in Austria. The neighbouring (federal) states are Vorarlberg in the west, Salzburg in the east, Germany in the north and Italy in the south, along with Switzerland in the south-west.

Travelling with a dog:
Almost all accommodation providers ask for a contribution towards the costs of accommodating pets. Around EUR 2 to EUR 15 per day is standard. Dogs are to be kept on a lead in public.
In public transportation a muzzle should be worn. Dog poo must be removed by the owner. At some paths in the region there are dog toilets with plastic bags.
