Boat tours on Lake Achensee

Tiroler Sommerfrische am Achensee - Ablegen und Aufleben

The Achenseeschiffahrt (Achensee shipping company) looks back on an eventful history. Abbot Albert Wildauer, who had a captain’s licence himself, was the most important pioneer in the shipping sector. He commissioned the construction of a ship for Lake Achensee. The new, at that time still steam-powered ship was delivered in parts by rail to Jenbach, from where it was transported by horses to Pertisau for assembly. The “MS St. Josef” laid the foundation of the success story of the Achenseeschiffahrt in 1887.

Tirolschiffahrt: Cast off and enjoy
Today the fleet of the Achenseeschiffahrt has three modern passenger ships inviting visitors to sit back and relax as they cruise against a backdrop of beautiful views over Tirol’s largest lake.

Combining hiking and boat tours
An excursion to the Gaisalm mountain hut is perfect to combine a boat trip with lake views and hiking. The ships travel from Achenkirch over the turquoise-green waters of the Tirolean Sea. The idyllic traffic-free route along the western shore is ideal for hikers who are looking for diverse terrain. Narrow paths meander above the lake or alongside the shore, always affording beautiful vistas of Lake Achensee. The trail is a classic for locals and is often used as a morning jogging tour.

Hop on hop off – Sightseeing in a relaxed way
Cruise the lake with the Achenseeschiffahrt to your heart’s content all day long. You can hop on and hop off at any time as often as you like. Would you like to stay longer at the Gaisalm mountain hut or enjoy a sundowner in Pertisau? No problem! The “hop on hop off” day ticket of the Achenseeschiffahrt gives you new and unlimited opportunities to explore the Achensee holiday region in your summer holidays 2020.
